According to Insider Gaming, one of the forthcoming Star Wars games under development at Respawn Entertainment, known for titles like Apex Legends and Titanfall, is purportedly a bounty hunter adventure where players assume the role of a Mandalorian.
In its nascent stages, the project is said to be a first-person shooter set in the era of the Galactic Empire, centering around a Mandalorian bounty hunter.
While the report doesn’t explicitly confirm the protagonist as Din Djarin from the popular Disney+ series “The Mandalorian” or the upcoming movie, the timeline aligns with the Galactic Empire’s reign, predating the events of the TV series, which makes an appearance by Baby Yoda unlikely.
Described as a linear experience rather than an open-world game, the project allegedly emphasizes the Mandalorian’s mobility and style. This includes dynamic movements such as jetpack maneuvers, horizontal dashing, vertical jumps, and boost sliding, reminiscent of the mechanics in Apex Legends.
The arsenal at the player’s disposal reportedly includes iconic Mandalorian weaponry like wrist rockets, a grappling hook, and a visor for enemy and bounty tagging.
The game aims to deliver a “very fast-paced” gameplay experience, with health regeneration tied to successive kills, incentivizing aggressive playstyles.
Respawn Entertainment, under the Electronic Arts (EA) umbrella, announced its involvement in three Star Wars projects in 2022. Among them was the release of last year’s “Star Wars Jedi: Survivor” and a strategy game developed in collaboration with Bit Reactor, a studio comprised of veterans from Firaxis Games.
The third project, initially described simply as a new Star Wars first-person shooter, is presumed to be the Mandalorian-themed game.
