Square Enix, the renowned creator of the Final Fantasy series, has disclosed its financial performance for the nine months ending on December 31, 2023.

Financial Figures:
Net sales amounted to ¥257.6 billion ($1.7 billion), marking a slight 1% increase compared to the previous year.
Profit stood at ¥26.8 billion ($180 million), indicating a 42% decline year-on-year.
Net sales in the Digital Entertainment sector totaled ¥179.6 billion ($1.2 billion), showing a decrease of 2.5% year-on-year.
HD Games:
The HD Games division saw a notable rise in net sales, reaching ¥66.8 billion ($449 million), up by 15% compared to the previous year.
Several games were released under this division during the nine-month period, including titles such as Final Fantasy: Pixel Remaster, Final Fantasy 16, Infinity Strash: Dragon Quest The Adventure of Dai, and Star Ocean: The Second Story R.
Mobile/PC Browser:
Net sales from Mobile/PC Browser games amounted to ¥78 billion ($524 million), although this represented a decrease of 9% year-over-year.
Square Enix highlighted a lineup of 16 major titles for this segment but noted that the performance of new releases could not fully compensate for the underperformance of existing titles.
MMOs:
MMOs generated revenue of ¥34.8 billion ($234 million) during this period, showing a decline of 14% year-over-year.
Notably, Final Fantasy XIV and Dragon Quest X, the two operating titles in this category, plan to release new expansion packs in 2024.
Game Sales:
Square Enix sold a total of 18.51 million copies of downloaded and packaged games during the nine-month period.
Downloaded games accounted for 14.32 million units, while disc-based titles sold 4.19 million units.
Upcoming Releases:
Square Enix announced the launch of its newest title, Foamstars, scheduled for February 6.
Additionally, the eagerly awaited next installment of the Final Fantasy 7 remake, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, is set to release on February 29.
