WWE aired RAW from Raleigh, North Carolina, just weeks away from WrestleMania.
On the show, a pivotal contract signing unfolded for the Intercontinental Title match between Sami Zayn and Gunther, as Sami aimed to end the latter’s record-breaking reign.
Despite Gunther’s remarkable tenure as champion, former RAW head writer Vince Russo offered insights suggesting that the company might not be prioritizing Gunther’s reign amid the buzz surrounding Roman Reigns’ historic concurrent run.
During the intense exchange between champion and challenger, Sami Zayn expressed his determination to dethrone Gunther and seize the championship.
In response, Gunther remained dismissive, underestimating Sami’s threat.

Reflecting on the episode on the Legion of RAW podcast, Russo shared his perspective, suggesting that Gunther’s reign might not resonate as strongly with fans compared to Reigns’ dominance.
“You think people really care about that Gunther… I don’t think people really care. Like, I don’t think it’s gonna be like when The Undertaker’s streak was broken. I don’t think people really care, they care about Roman. This was like a secondary streak,”
Russo remarked.
As Gunther prepares to defend his title at WrestleMania, facing one of his most significant challenges yet, the question arises: will the champion maintain his streak at The Show of Shows?
The impending clash adds an extra layer of intrigue, sparking debates among fans about Gunther’s fate. Should he lose the title or continue his historic reign? It’s a topic ripe for discussion among wrestling enthusiasts.
With the stage set for a high-stakes showdown, all eyes will be on Gunther as he seeks to defend his championship against Sami Zayn at WrestleMania, determining the fate of his reign amidst the grandeur of The Show of Shows.
