April 2024 has proven eventful for Mark Briscoe. Kicking off the month with a victory over Eddie Kingston at ROH Supercard of Honor, he clinched the ROH World Championship, coincidentally 11 years after his late brother Jay Briscoe’s first title win.
Following a trios match loss at AEW Dynasty against the House of Black, Briscoe shared joyous news: his family has expanded.
Taking to his X (formerly Twitter) account, Briscoe proudly announced the arrival of his son, Matthew Jamin Pugh.
Matthew’s middle name appears to pay homage to Jay, whose given name is Jamin; tragically, Jamin Pugh passed away in a car accident in January 2023. Matthew, the fifth son for Mark, becomes his eighth child.
Reflecting on his growing family, Briscoe humorously revealed in a November 2023 interview that he learned of his wife’s pregnancy shortly after taking time off from wrestling to recover from a knee injury, jesting about his use of free time.
Returning to action for the inaugural Continental Classic tournament towards the end of 2023, Briscoe secured fifth place in the Gold League with three points.
He then engaged in the feud alongside FTR and Daniel Garcia against the House of Black. Subsequently, attention turned to the reigning ROH World Champion in various episodes of “AEW Collision.”
