Hayes emphasized that he aimed to make a statement and prove his potential against a formidable opponent like Rhodes.
“I went into this thing, win or loss, I wanted to make that statement. At the end of the day, I know I’m destined for greatness. Going [up] against a guy like Cody Rhodes, WWE champ for a reason. I might not have made it through, [and] I might not have beat Cody Rhodes but I shot from the low go and I hit rim on that,” Hayes stated, highlighting his aspirations for success in WWE.
Hayes attributed his early selection in the draft to SmackDown recognizing his star power and potential to excel on the blue brand.
Meanwhile, Cody Rhodes is preparing for a high-stakes match against AJ Styles at Backlash. During a recent contract signing on SmackDown, Styles acknowledged the mutual respect between himself and Rhodes, citing their journeys from outside WWE to becoming major stars in the promotion. Despite the respect, Styles made it clear that he would bring his A-game to defeat Rhodes at Backlash.
In response, Rhodes emphasized that while he respected Styles, he would not hold back in their upcoming match, viewing it as a crucial opportunity to prove himself.
The clash between Cody Rhodes and AJ Styles promises to be a nice showdown, with both wrestlers determined to emerge victorious when they face off at Backlash in France next week.
