After a flurry of reports suggesting a major shift in Microsoft’s strategy regarding its exclusive games, Xbox chief Phil Spencer has confirmed that the company will unveil its “vision for the future of Xbox” during an upcoming “business event” scheduled for next week.
The speculation began earlier this year with rumors circulating that Microsoft might release Tango Gameworks’ highly praised Hi-Fi Rush on PlayStation and Switch. These rumors quickly gained traction with additional claims suggesting that Rare’s popular multiplayer pirate adventure Sea of Thieves could also be making its way to competing consoles.
However, over the weekend, the speculation intensified further, with titles such as Starfield, Bethesda’s upcoming Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, and even Gears of War being mentioned as potential candidates for release on PlayStation platforms.
Despite the escalating rumors surrounding Xbox’s first-party titles potentially branching out to other platforms, Microsoft has maintained a silence on the matter.
However, in response to a deluge of reports from credible sources, Xbox head Phil Spencer has now taken to social media to announce that the company will provide an official update on its future plans through a dedicated “business update event” set for the following week.
While Spencer did not directly address the rumors of Xbox exclusives going multiplatform, he acknowledged the concerns of fans by stating, “We’re listening and we hear you.”
He went on to confirm the upcoming event, expressing that they are “planning a business update event for next week,” where they anticipate sharing more details about the future direction of Xbox. Spencer concluded by urging fans to “stay tuned” for further updates.
