Nintendo’s latest Direct showcase announced new games coming in late 2024 and early 2025 for the Switch console. While there was no news about “Hollow Knight: Silksong,” many other exciting updates and surprises were revealed. The Switch, which came out in 2017, is likely nearing its end, with a new console expected to be announced within this fiscal year.
One major reveal was “The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom,” where players control Princess Zelda to save the kingdom after Link disappears. This game will have different mechanics and design similar to “Link’s Awakening” remake. It will be released on September 26, along with a special Hyrule edition of the Nintendo Switch Lite.
The “Mario & Luigi” series is returning with “Mario & Luigi: Brothership,” an adventure on the sea. This is the first new game in the series in nearly nine years, set to release on November 7. Additionally, “Metroid Prime 4: Beyond” will bring back Samus for a new mission, which is planned for release in 2025.
“Tales of the Shire: A The Lord of the Rings Game” will let players explore Hobbiton, do activities like gardening and fishing, and meet neighbors. This cozy life simulation game is coming out in the holiday season of 2024. “Funko Fusion” is another game where players can use over 60 Funko Pop! characters from classic movies and shows, set to release on September 13.
Finally, “Dragon Quest III HD-2D” is an epic remake of the original RPG with improved graphics and expanded gameplay. It will be released on November 14, allowing players to explore towns, dungeons, and caves, and fight monsters with new characters.
