Paddy Pimblett, the rising UFC lightweight star, is gearing up for his upcoming bout against Bobby Green at UFC 304 in July, set to take place at the Co-op Live Arena in Manchester, England. However, Pimblett recently revealed that his original target for this fight wasn’t Green, but rather the No.10 ranked Renato Moicano.
In a recent interview with The Mac Life, Pimblett expressed his preference for a matchup against Moicano, citing the potential for an entertaining build-up given Moicano’s personality. Pimblett described Moicano as a “funny lad” and believed their fight would have drawn significant attention. However, despite his desire for the Moicano matchup, Pimblett finds himself slated to face Green instead.
Expressing his candid thoughts on Green, Pimblett didn’t hold back, labeling him as a “proper tool” and “a proper weapon.” Despite not getting his desired opponent, Pimblett is confident about facing Green and believes it will be an easier fight due to damage Green sustained in his previous bout against Jalin Turner last December.
Pimblett pointed out that Green’s chin may be compromised following the knockout loss to Turner, indicating that he sees an opportunity to capitalize on this weakness. Despite Green’s solid striking skills, Pimblett believes that the damage he suffered in the Turner fight has made him vulnerable, as evidenced by his wobbling against Jim Miller in his subsequent bout.
With a victory over Tony Ferguson in his last outing, Pimblett is riding high on momentum and aims to extend his undefeated streak in the UFC. As he prepares to face Green at UFC 304, Pimblett remains focused and confident in his abilities to secure another win and potentially enter the lightweight rankings.
