The Shanghai Municipal Party Committee is giving its support to miHoYo‘s plans to turn Genshin Impact and Honkai into animated films.
In a recent article shared on the Shanghai CPC Branch’s Official WeChat Account, the party announced that the CPC Branch of the Film Department of the Shanghai Municipal Party Committee’s Publicity Department is actively involved in field research for the “Three-Year Action Plan for Shanghai City of Film” Project. This initiative aims to transform Shanghai into a bustling “City of Film” within the next 3 years, positioning it as a leading hub for film production.
As part of these efforts, the branch is engaging in field research and discussions with major film, gaming, and special effects companies based in Shanghai. These include Papergames, the developer of Miracle Nikki, as well as Tjsports, IMAX China, and miHoYo.
During their visit to miHoYo’s motion capture laboratory, the branch got a firsthand look at the advanced technologies driving their production process, like real-time motion capture and digitization, along with 3D digital character model animation.
Following the visit, the branch sat down for a symposium with Hoyoverse, where they discussed the ambitious goals and essential tasks for transforming Shanghai into a bustling “City of Films” over the next three years.
The Film Department has committed to supporting miHoYo in their efforts to contribute to Shanghai’s rise as a film hub. This includes assisting in the creation of animated films based on miHoYo’s original IPs, Genshin Impact and Honkai. Their aim is to broaden the audience appeal, hoping to see more gamers and players become avid film enthusiasts in the future.
