“I don’t know if it’s going to happen there, obviously. In the long run, I think Cody [Rhodes] and I are kind of made to be enemies. I think it makes sense visually already along. I could see it happen in the next year. We’ll see what happens now (…) I think there are many options,” Gunther shared.
Gunther also agreed with the idea that the winner of the King of the Ring tournament should have the opportunity to challenge Cody Rhodes for the title, emphasizing the logical progression of this storyline.
Meanwhile, Cody Rhodes has been active across both WWE brands, showcasing the Undisputed WWE Championship. Following the annual WWE Draft on SmackDown, Rhodes signed to defend his title against AJ Styles at Backlash 2024 in France.
In a subsequent development, Carmelo Hayes challenged Rhodes after joining SmackDown, leading to a high-stakes match where Rhodes provided Hayes with a significant opportunity to shine on his debut night.
With new talent like Hayes and Baron Corbin making waves on SmackDown, the brand is gearing up for intense competition and compelling storylines leading into Bash in Berlin 2024.
