Rockstar Games is notorious for its secrecy, but in late 2023, a flood of leaks spilled the beans on several canceled projects, leaving fans both intrigued and disappointed.
Among the casualties were “Bully 2” and a slew of single-player DLC concepts for “Grand Theft Auto 5.” While the anticipation for “GTA 6” remains high, the scrapped DLC ideas still linger in the minds of many fans.
One particularly tantalizing concept involved Trevor, the fan-favorite character voiced by Steven Ogg, embarking on spy missions after being recruited by a government organization. The prospect of Trevor’s absurd escapades in espionage sounded like a riot, but alas, it was not meant to be.
With Rockstar unlikely to revisit the idea, fans are left to lament the DLC that never saw the light of day.
Surprisingly, Ogg himself was onboard with the idea and even filmed some scenes for the canceled DLC. During a recent Q&A session, he revealed that they had shot footage featuring “James Bond Trevor,” showcasing the character’s attempts to play the role of a secret agent. However, the project mysteriously disappeared, and Rockstar never followed up on it.
Despite not being a gamer himself, Ogg has expressed his fondness for working on “GTA” and the impact the game has had on his career. He continues to be recognized as Trevor by fans, a testament to the character’s enduring popularity.
While it’s disappointing that we’ll never get to experience Trevor’s espionage adventures firsthand, perhaps Rockstar could appease fans by releasing some of the unused footage from the canceled DLC. After all, who wouldn’t want to see Trevor trying his hand at being a secret agent, even if it’s just on the cutting room floor?
