The ongoing feud between Kendrick Lamar and Drake has escalated with both artists releasing new diss tracks containing harsh verses targeting each other’s families.
Earlier this week, Lamar responded to two tracks by Drake with “Euphoria,” where he referred to the Canadian rapper as a “scam artist.”
In retaliation, Drake released “Family Matters” on Friday, hitting back with lyrics such as,
“Why you never hold your son and tell him say cheese. We could have left the kids out of this don’t blame me.”
These lyrics appear to be a direct response to Lamar’s questioning of his fatherhood abilities on “Euphoria.”
In his latest track, Drake, the world’s most-streamed hip hop artist, also implied that one of Lamar’s children may have been fathered by someone else.
Lamar’s immediate response, “Meet the Grahams,” was just as personal, mentioning Drake’s son Adonis, as well as his parents, Sandra and Dennis Graham. Lamar states,
“Dear Adonis, I’m sorry that that man is your father. Let me be honest, it takes a man to be a man, your dad is not responsive.”
The feud between Drake and Lamar, both highly acclaimed artists, has been ongoing for years, but the recent exchange of diss tracks shows that their animosity has become more personal and less subtle.
Drake’s previous releases, “Push Ups” and “Taylor Made Freestyle,” also targeted Lamar, mocking his collaborations with Taylor Swift and Maroon 5, and accusing him of cowardice for not responding.
The latter track stirred controversy for using an AI-generated voice of Tupac Shakur, prompting threats of legal action from the late rapper’s estate.
In “Euphoria,” Lamar directly confronts Drake, asserting, “You’re not a rap artist, you a scam artist with the hopes of being accepted.”
