On the afternoon of May 20th, Kang Daniel’s legal team from the law firm Wooree announced, “Our client Kang Daniel has filed a criminal complaint with the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency against the major shareholder of KONNECT Entertainment. The charges include forgery of private documents, embezzlement, breach of trust, information and communication network intrusion, and computer fraud.”
They further explained, “Kang Daniel has been both CEO and artist, protecting the company for over five years. He tried to minimize damage to artists, employees, and contractors who trust him, making considerable efforts for over a year before filing the complaint. He ultimately decided that legal action was the only solution.”
Regarding the forgery charges, Kang Daniel’s team stated, “In December 2022, a contract worth around 10 billion won was signed without Kang Daniel’s knowledge using his name and a forged corporate seal. He discovered this in January 2023. The contract was made without his approval or consent. Despite many inquiries, no answers were given, so Kang Daniel had to get bank transaction records himself to find out the truth.”

On the embezzlement charge, they revealed, “At least 2 billion won was withdrawn from the company’s account through foreign remittances and business income methods without proper procedures like CEO approval or board resolutions.”
Regarding the breach of trust charge, they added, “Tens of millions of won were spent using an anonymous corporate card and falsely recorded as expenses for Kang Daniel’s props.” On the information and communication network intrusion and fraud charges, they mentioned, “While checking the company’s financial transactions, Kang Daniel found that over 1.7 billion won had been withdrawn from his personal bank account without his knowledge.”
They concluded, “We thank those concerned about Kang Daniel’s situation. Further statements will be provided once the investigation reveals more facts.” The major shareholder, who holds about 70% of KONNECT’s shares, has been charged by Kang Daniel. With Kang Daniel’s contract set to expire next month, it seems he will naturally part ways with the agency once the contract ends.
