As Marvel Studios’ lone movie release approaches, a Deadpool 2 actor recently expressed his strong desire to revisit his role in the upcoming film. Josh Brolin, known for portraying the time-traveling super soldier Cable in Deadpool 2, shared his thoughts with Mike DeAngelo of The Playlist regarding the forthcoming Deadpool & Wolverine project.
Although Brolin is credited on the IMDb page for Deadpool & Wolverine, his return as Cable has not been officially confirmed. When DeAngelo jokingly pointed out his IMDb listing, Brolin responded enthusiastically, “Am I? Yeeeesssss! I so wanted to be in that movie.”
Reflecting on Marvel Studios’ involvement, Brolin mentioned that he hadn’t received any communication from them about reprising his role or the reasons behind his potential absence.
He hinted at the complexity of Marvel’s decision-making process, speculating that their integration into the MCU might have influenced the casting choices for Deadpool & Wolverine. Despite the uncertainty, Brolin fondly recalled his time as Cable, emphasizing the enjoyment he derived from the role.
While there’s speculation about Brolin’s return akin to Andrew Garfield’s denial before Spider-Man: No Way Home, his positive relationship with Ryan Reynolds and the return of several Deadpool 2 co-stars suggest otherwise.
Brolin also took the opportunity to praise Hugh Jackman’s portrayal of Wolverine, expressing admiration for Jackman’s performance in Logan. He lauded the seamless integration of characters in the Deadpool & Wolverine project and commended Jackman’s timeless portrayal of the iconic character.
Although fans may have hoped for Brolin’s return as Cable, his gracious attitude indicates no hard feelings. He eagerly anticipates enjoying Deadpool & Wolverine alongside fans when it hits theaters this summer.
Deadpool & Wolverine is set to release on July 26, with Collider providing ongoing coverage.
