Legendary wrestling manager Jim Cornette recently expressed his dissatisfaction with how new World Heavyweight Champion Damian Priest was portrayed on RAW last week.
Cornette, a WWE veteran, felt that Priest, who captured the title at WrestleMania XL, was not given the serious treatment befitting a champion during a segment with R-Truth and The Miz.
Cornette questioned the decision to involve Priest in a lighthearted skit when he should be presented as a credible champion. He emphasized that Priest’s championship win was primarily aimed at advancing the storyline between CM Punk and Drew McIntyre, rather than elevating Priest himself.
“The promo, why are they treating Priest like he still needs to be interacting with all these foolish children? They gave Priest the belt to further the angle between Punk and McIntyre. Not necessarily to help Priest but to further the angle between Punk and McIntyre, which was brilliant. But they could give Priest something at the same time but just don’t have him be stupid with these other people,” said Cornette.
Meanwhile, wrestling personality Vince Russo speculated on a potential feud between Priest and Finn Balor, suggesting it could culminate in a match at WWE SummerSlam 2024.
Considering their history as former tag team partners and now with Priest holding the World Heavyweight Championship, Russo sees potential for a compelling storyline between the two.
As fans ponder the implications of such a feud, questions arise about the future of The Judgment Day, especially with Rhea Ripley’s absence from the picture. The dynamics within the group could shift significantly if Priest embarks on a rivalry with Balor.
