AEW luminary and seasoned wrestling icon Jeff Jarrett recently weighed in on the possibility of the revered WWE Hall of Famer making a comeback from retirement for a hardcore showdown on his birthday.
The Hall of Famer in question is none other than the legendary Hardcore wrestler, Mick Foley. Foley’s last match took place at the 2012 Royal Rumble, and since then, he has been absent from the ring.
However, Foley recently disclosed his intention to shed 100 pounds for his 60th birthday to step into the ring for one final match.
In addition to his weight loss goal, Foley has expressed his desire to face either Jon Moxley or Matt Cardona in his dream matchup. Reflecting on Foley’s potential swansong bout, Jeff Jarrett, now a key figure in AEW, shared his perspective:
“Numerous thoughts crossed my mind. When you think about the roast of Bruce [Prichard], just envisioning a roast of Mick? An event centered around it. His career has left an indelible mark on numerous promotions, spanning Japan, Texas, Tennessee, and of course, the more obvious ones. Many tend to overlook his stint in WCW. It immediately got me thinking, ‘Okay, while I’m not positioning myself as the promoter here, I’ve been in similar situations before, so I have some insights on what might need to be arranged if he decides to go through with it.'”
Addressing the challenges ahead of his potential last match, the WWE Hall of Famer emphasized the significance of overcoming injury concerns. Speaking on his Foleymania podcast, Foley candidly discussed the hurdles:
“I don’t necessarily have to subject my brain to undue trauma. I’m not opposed to a few stitches here and there. It may not be everyone’s cup of tea, and rightfully so, some may say, ‘Hey, that’s not good for you.’ But it could assist me in shedding those 100 pounds, right? That’s the missing piece. I did manage to drop 100 pounds, but then WrestleMania came around, and I had already shed 50.”
The decision on whether Foley will indeed stage his last hurrah in the ring remains to be seen, along with the identity of his potential final adversary. Time will be the ultimate arbiter of this wrestling saga.
