Jason Aaron and Namor are teaming up once again for an exciting new Marvel series. While Aaron may no longer be exclusive to Marvel, his creative journey within the universe is far from over.
Known for his groundbreaking work on titles like Avengers and Thor, Aaron is now turning his attention to the enigmatic former King of Atlantis, Namor the Sub-Mariner.
Marvel has officially announced “Namor,” an eight-issue miniseries penned by Jason Aaron, with art by Paul Davidson and Alex Lins.
Marvel’s new series “Namor”
Promising to look into the dark history of Atlantis and its iconic defender, the series is set to bring about significant changes to the underwater realm. Marvel teases that by the series’ conclusion, the seas will be forever altered, hinting at a transformative journey for Namor and his kingdom.
The cover for the first issue, illustrated by Alexander Lozano, offers a tantalizing look into Namor’s current predicament. Clad in a torn orange inmate costume and adorned with probing devices, Namor appears battered and bruised, a stark contrast to his regal demeanor.
Fans will recall Namor’s arrest in Aaron’s final Avengers comic, “Avengers Assemble Omega #1,” setting the stage for the tumultuous events to come. Beyond his Marvel ventures, Jason Aaron is researching new horizons with a diverse array of projects.
From returning to DC Comics to write “Batman: Off-World” and crafting stories for “Superman Superstars” in Action Comics to contributing to IDW Publishing’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles relaunch, Aaron’s creative endeavors know no bounds.
Aaron’s return to Marvel aligns with a trend of acclaimed writers coming back to the publisher in recent years. Jonathan Hickman, known for his groundbreaking work on the X-Men line, has returned to helm projects like “G.O.D.S” and the highly anticipated “Aliens vs. Avengers.”
Similarly, Kieron Gillen, after a stint in the creator-owned realm, has rejoined Marvel for titles such as “Eternals” and “Immortal X-Men.”
With “Namor” poised to study the depths of the underwater kingdom and Jason Aaron’s diverse portfolio of projects on the horizon, fans can expect an exhilarating journey into the heart of the Marvel Universe and beyond.
