Jamahal Hill, the former UFC light heavyweight champion, has recently spoken out about the controversial refereeing by Herb Dean during his fight at UFC 300. Hill faced Alex Pereira in the main event, which took place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on April 13.
During the bout, Hill appeared to land a kick in the groin area of Pereira. Referee Herb Dean intervened to possibly pause the action, but Pereira indicated that he wished to continue without a break. Mere seconds after this incident, Pereira managed to secure a knockout victory over Hill.

This sequence of events sparked a wave of criticism directed at Dean, with some suggesting that his actions may have distracted Hill, contributing to his defeat.
In a video posted on his YouTube channel, Hill discussed the fight’s conclusion and addressed the controversy, saying,
“I’m just going to say, just protect yourself at all times, you know. Wow, my feelings on it honestly don’t matter you know, just for the simple fact that a lot of people didn’t like how I sold the fight… So, it’s irrelevant. I just take it as a lesson learned and just go from it from there… I took no damage… I remember everything, I remember looking up seeing his legs, I remember him coming in… I was coherent the whole time.”
Despite the setback at UFC 300, Hill is not slowing down. He is scheduled to return to the octagon against Khalil Rountree Jr. in a light heavyweight bout at UFC 303.
This event, which is part of International Fight Week, will be headlined by a highly anticipated fight between Michael Chandler and Conor McGregor, promising another exciting chapter in UFC history.
