Drew McIntyre is gearing up for what he sees as the pinnacle of his wrestling career – dethroning Seth Rollins from his WWE World Heavyweight Championship reign at WrestleMania XL.
While Drew didn’t clinch victory in the 2024 Men’s Royal Rumble, he earned a golden opportunity by triumphing over five other wrestlers in the Men’s Elimination Chamber match last month. Now, he’s set to face off against Rollins on Night Two of WrestleMania XL.
In an exclusive interview with Evan Mack’s World, McIntyre expressed his unwavering confidence in his ability to snatch the title from Rollins. He emphasized the importance of the championship being held by a “real man.”
“I’m ready to not just become World Champion, defeat Seth Rollins, but take that World Title to the next level. Seth’s done a great job. He’s made it what it is today. But, you know, he raised his baby, did the best he could. He sent it to college, but it’s gotta go out into the real world with a real man. And that’s Drew McIntyre,” he said. [3:11 – 3:32]
But Rollins won’t be a one-match man at WrestleMania XL. In addition to defending his title against McIntyre, he’s also scheduled to team up with Cody Rhodes in a colossal tag team match against Roman Reigns and The Rock on night one.
Commenting on Rollins’ multifaceted involvement in storylines, McIntyre didn’t hold back, labeling him a “spotlight junkie.”
“He’s got this insatiable thirst for the spotlight. Even with his body feeling the strain, he can’t resist chasing after it. Whether it’s cozying up to The Rock’s spotlight on SmackDown or teaming up with Cody, it’s all about feeding his ego. He’s lost sight of what truly matters – the world title and RAW,”
McIntyre remarked.
With The Rock and Reigns slated to appear on the April 1st episode of RAW, anticipation brews over whether tensions will escalate between the rival teams ahead of their high-stakes showdown at WrestleMania XL.
