Arrowhead Game Studios, the creator behind the satirical sci-fi shooter sequel Helldivers 2, has kicked off with a bang, and now they’re on the hunt for fresh talent to ramp up their post-launch content plans.
Despite encountering some early technical hiccups, which the team at Arrowhead has been diligently working to iron out since the game’s release on PlayStation 5 and PC last Friday, Helldivers 2 has garnered praise from critics and attracted a robust player base. In fact, it has achieved the title of PlayStation Studios’ most successful Steam launch thus far, with over 150,000 concurrent players over the weekend.
Riding on the wave of this initial success, Johan Pilestedt, CEO of Arrowhead and creative director of Helldivers 2, has taken to social media to extend a call for new talent, seeking out “more amazing developers” to bolster the studio’s content plans.
Pilestedt mentioned that specific job listings will soon be posted on Arrowhead’s recruitment site, but also noted that senior developers can always submit an “open application.”
At present, Arrowhead’s primary focus lies in addressing the technical glitches encountered in the early stages of Helldivers 2.
Issues such as logins, server capacity, progression, and rewards are all receiving attention through patches rolled out earlier this week. While the studio has yet to unveil detailed plans for future content, it has assured fans that updates are on the horizon, stating on Helldivers’ official Discord, “It’s coming.”
Despite these initial challenges, Helldivers 2 has already established itself as a “wonderfully slapstick co-op experience,” according to Eurogamer contributor Emma Kent’s glowing four out of five reviews. Kent noted that the game is ripe with unexpected and memorable moments in nearly every battle, leading to a plethora of ludicrous stories from players’ first week with the game.
