Netflix’s recent release of the Grand Theft Auto trilogy on mobile devices has garnered a remarkable 18 million downloads across both iOS and Android platforms. According to data from Appmagic, these figures were achieved since the launch of the Rockstar titles on the streaming service on December 14.
Leading the trilogy in total downloads is Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, which boasts an impressive 11.6 million downloads.
The distribution is further broken down into 9.1 million on iOS and 2.6 million on Android devices. Following closely, Vice City secures the second position with a total of 3.1 million installs, while Grand Theft Auto 3 claims the third spot with 2.4 million downloads to date.
Netflix acknowledged the success of the Grand Theft Auto trilogy release in a letter to shareholders, stating, “In Q4, we debuted the Grand Theft Auto trilogy from Rockstar Games.
This has become our most successful launch to date in terms of installs and engagement, with some consumers clearly signing up simply to play these games.” The streaming giant highlighted the significant impact of these games on user engagement and the overall success of their latest release.
