Nixxes Software has released the PC system requirements for Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut ahead of its upcoming release on Steam. This information arrives a month before the game’s launch on May 16.
Ghost of Tsushima was initially a standout title on the PlayStation 4 and later gained acclaim as one of the early hits on the PlayStation 5 with its Director’s Cut edition in August 2021. Now, Sony has announced that this definitive version will also be available on PC.
PC System Requirements
Nixxes Software, the studio responsible for the PC port, has revealed the official system requirements for the game. Surprisingly, even older GPUs like the Nvidia GeForce GTX 960, which is nine years old, will be capable of running the game at 30 frames per second in 720p resolution. However, for those aiming for 4K resolution at 60 FPS, more powerful GPUs will be needed.
Preset | Very Low | Medium | High | Very High |
---|---|---|---|---|
Average performance | 720p at 30 FPS | 1080p at 60 FPS | 1440p at 60 FPS | 4K at 60 FPS |
4K at 30 FPS | ||||
CPU | Intel Core i3-7100 | Intel Core i5-8600 | Intel Core i5-11400 | Intel Core i5-11400 |
AMD Ryzen 3 1200 | AMD Ryzen 5 3600 | AMD Ryzen 5 5600 | AMD Ryzen 5 5600 | |
GPU | NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960 4GB | NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 | NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 | NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 |
AMD Radeon RX 5500 XT | AMD Radeon RX 5600 XT | AMD Radeon RX 6800 | AMD Radeon RX 7900 XT | |
RAM | 8 GB | 16 GB | ||
Storage | 75 GB HDD (SSD recommended) | 75 GB SSD | ||
OS | Windows 10 64-bit |
Interestingly, the game won’t require an extremely powerful CPU. Processors like the Intel Core i5-8600 or AMD Ryzen 5 3600, which are six and five years old, respectively, will suffice for playing at 1440p and 60 FPS or 4K at a lower frame rate. RAM requirements range from 8 GB to 16 GB, likely referring to the latest DDR5 RAM specification.
Sony’s Approach to Storage in Ghost of Tsushima PC Release
Unlike many AAA games today, Ghost of Tsushima will not require players to use an SSD (solid-state drive). While SSDs are recommended, the game can still be played from a slower HDD (hard disk drive).
Sony’s decision to support HDDs for their PC games is notable, as many developers are now requiring SSDs for optimal performance. This move contrasts with titles like Starfield and Cyberpunk 2077, which have set SSDs as mandatory hardware years after their release. The future direction of Sony’s PC games in this regard remains to be seen.
