Gabby Logan fondly reminisced about a memorable flight incident where her sudden illness nearly prompted an emergency landing.
The 50-year-old presenter was on a holiday flight with her husband Kenny, 52, when she began to feel unwell, sparking concern among the cabin crew.
During a conversation on her podcast, “The Mid Point,” Kenny recalled the tense moment:
“Remember that flight we went on, I’ve just remembered now, where you had to get the pilot to lower the plane to 10,000 feet?”
He recounted the scene:
“I was sat next to my wife and she went a bit white and she said, ‘I’m not feeling well’, and I was like, ‘You’ll be fine, just get some water’.”
Gabby elaborated on the ordeal, explaining how it all started even before boarding:
“It started in the lounge! I wasn’t feeling well at the airport and I got on the plane and I felt worse. It was to the point where I couldn’t actually unravel my body, I was crunched over and couldn’t lift my chest up.”
With her condition worsening, the cabin crew intervened:
“I didn’t know what was wrong, the air hostess looked really worried – the steward was incredible. I had gone really white and they took me up to the front, into the galley, and I heard them talking about whether they should land somewhere or whether they could get me oxygen.”
Then came the unexpected solution:
“Then, he just said, ‘Ooh, I’m going to see if we just slightly lower the plane a little bit what that does to you, it might change the way you feel’.”
To everyone’s surprise, the change in altitude led to an unexpected turn of events:
“Basically, I had trapped wind. It’s not as if the whole plane didn’t know about this by this point.”
Gabby chuckled as she continued:
“It was very funny, I think you got a cheer!” Kenny added.
Later, the steward from the flight appeared on BBC’s “Would I Lie To You?” as Gabby’s mystery guest, although hilariously, no one on the opposing team believed her tale.
