Kadokawa, the parent company of From Software, has officially confirmed that the team is diligently engaged in the development of Elden Ring’s downloadable content (DLC). However, as of now, there is no specific release date available for dissemination.
This update on the progress of the much-anticipated DLC was proactively addressed within the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) section of Kadokawa’s recent financial report, indicating an awareness of the community’s curiosity regarding this matter.
Amid inquiries concerning various aspects, such as net sales for Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon and the pricing dynamics of paper-based books, Kadokawa reiterated its commitment to advancing the DLC for Elden Ring while regretfully admitting the absence of a confirmed release date.
The statement reads, “We are currently exerting significant efforts in the development of Elden Ring’s DLC; however, we are not prepared to unveil a release date at this juncture.”
Furthermore, the financial summary disclosed that Kadokawa’s gaming division experienced higher-than-anticipated operating profit, attributed in part to the success of both the new release Armored Core 6 and the ongoing performance of Elden Ring, even years after its initial launch.
The report underscores ongoing initiatives aimed at maximizing the long-term value of Elden Ring, including the development of substantial DLC content to enrich the gaming experience for players.
In other news, reports have emerged suggesting that Tencent, the technology conglomerate, is in the process of developing a mobile adaptation of Elden Ring. Following its acquisition of licensing rights to Elden Ring from From Software in 2022, Tencent assembled a dedicated team to commence work on a prototype.
While progress on this mobile adaptation has been described as sluggish by insider sources, Tencent reportedly envisions a free-to-play model with in-app purchases akin to the successful Genshin Impact.
