As Fortnite pursues its seemingly limitless mission to incorporate elements from a myriad of video games, the latest revelation from developer Epic Games unveils that Solid Snake will not be the sole representative from the Metal Gear series to join the battle royale lineup. In an intriguing twist, Raiden is set to make his appearance as a new premium skin.
The unveiling of this development occurred with the release of Fortnite’s first major update of the year, officially designated as version 28.10. This update, which coincides with the ongoing Chapter 5 Season 1, introduces new Bonus Reward styles for the Battle Pass skins.
However, stealing the spotlight is the opportunity for players to earn the eagerly anticipated Solid Snake Battle Pass skin and associated cosmetics by successfully completing in-game quests.
As customary with such updates, a collection of premium cosmetics available for purchase in the in-game store was also introduced. Dataminers swiftly uncovered and shared all ten of these additions, among which is a depiction of Raiden, Solid Snake’s Metal Gear companion.
Epic Games has officially welcomed Raiden to Fortnite through an engaging Solid Snake promotional trailer, showcasing Raiden’s sporadic de-camouflaging throughout the video.
Raiden’s premium skin, as leaked beforehand, is expected to include a katana weapon and a themed wrap. Notably, players can choose between two styles for Raiden’s appearance: one where his long blond locks flow freely and another featuring a masked variant.
Despite previous leaks, Epic Games has decided against including a tastefully naked Raiden variant, dashing any hopes of players triumphantly cartwheeling their way to victory in the buff.
Fortnite’s latest chapter, introduced in December, stands out with the inclusion of three permanent new modes—Lego Survival, Rocket Racing, and Fortnite Festival. This update represents one of the most substantial additions to the game since its launch in 2017. The current season is slated to conclude on March 8th.
