Wrestling veteran Vince Russo criticizes Sheamus and Finn Balor, claiming they’re past their prime despite their recent appearances on RAW.
Last week, Sheamus made a return to Monday Night RAW, defeating Ivar from the Viking Raiders.
However, some fans voiced concerns online about his physical condition. Meanwhile, Finn Balor extended his contract with WWE, ensuring his stay with the company.
During a recent episode of Sportskeeda Wrestling’s Legion of RAW, Russo expressed his opinion that both wrestlers have passed their peak. Despite their past achievements as World Champions, Russo believes they never truly reached top-star status in the company. He suggests that WWE is keeping them around primarily because of their in-ring abilities.
“Athletes have a shelf life, and after that, they retire or transition to other roles. Sheamus’ time in the spotlight is over. As for Finn Balor, in my view, he doesn’t offer much anymore. They’ve been featured on TV for years, but they never had significant drawing power. Yes, they’re skilled workers, but there are countless others like them out there.” [6:51 onwards]
In this week’s RAW, Sheamus engaged in a verbal exchange with his longtime friend Drew McIntyre. Despite concerns about his physical form, Sheamus emerged victorious against Shinsuke Nakamura.
As WWE prepares for its international live events, it remains to be seen how Sheamus will maintain his momentum.
