A new game development studio named Roro has emerged, formed by former employees of Mojang Studios and Toca Boca. The studio’s founders include CEO William Sampson and Robin Flodin, along with Kristoffer Jelbring.
William Sampson, who previously served as the general manager of Toca Boca for four years, has taken on the role of CEO at Roro. Robin Flodin, who has had a notable background as the CEO of Toadman Interactive for seven years, joins as a key member. Kristoffer Jelbring, who contributed nine years to Mojang Studios during his career, is also part of the talented team.
In its initial funding round, Roro successfully secured €1.5 million, with Node.vc leading the investment and participation from FOV Ventures. This financial backing will be utilized to propel the development of Roro’s inaugural project, which revolves around an interactive digital dollhouse.
William Sampson emphasized the evolving awareness within the industry regarding the potential of pure play over the last decade.
Despite this, he noted a significant oversight in the realm of creative play and self-expression, with only a few studios actively constructing new, high-quality experiences for the targeted audience. Roro aims to address this gap in the market, leveraging its expertise and secured investment to bring innovative and engaging experiences to the forefront.
