Naoki Yoshida, the director of Final Fantasy XVI, has provided an update on the status of the PC version of the game, indicating that it is currently undergoing its final stages of optimization.
“In our current development phase, we are focused on fine-tuning the last aspects of optimization,” Yoshida stated in an interview with Game Informer.
“The release timing for the PC version may hinge on these factors–namely, determining the system requirements and specifications necessary for PC players. As it stands, these specifications are expected to be rather demanding.”
Yoshida also disclosed that Square Enix intends to unveil a demo for the PC edition. Although he refrained from specifying an exact release date, he suggested that it would likely occur within a year.
“It won’t be too far off,” he assured. “While I can’t provide an exact timeframe, it certainly won’t be a year or two; the wait will likely be shorter than that, so I encourage everyone to stay tuned.”
Initially launched on PlayStation 5 in June 2023, Final Fantasy XVI is set to expand its horizons with a forthcoming PC release. The game received its inaugural DLC expansion, “Echoes of the Fallen,” in December, with the second expansion, “The Rising Tide,” slated for release this spring. This new content will introduce players to the Warden of Water and the elusive Eikon, Leviathan.
In our review of Final Fantasy XVI, GameSpot remarked, “FFXVI boldly introduces shifts in gameplay and narrative, all while encapsulating the essence of Final Fantasy in breathtaking fashion, solidifying its position among the remarkable entries in the cherished franchise.”
