Studio Wildcard has recently provided updates on the release schedule for remastered expansion maps of their game, “Ark: Survival Ascended.” This follows the delay of the Scorched Earth expansion map last year.
The remastered version of Scorched Earth, which enhances the original 2015 release of “Ark: Survival Evolved,” was initially planned to launch with the base game last year. However, both the base game and its expansions faced delays. The launch of the base game was pushed to October, and the expansions were also postponed.
According to the new schedule, Scorched Earth is set to release in April 2024. This expansion will feature a complete visual upgrade, a new dinosaur called the Fasolasuchus, and western-themed customization options for bases.
Additionally, all previous world expansions from “Ark” will be available for free to owners of “Ark: Survival Ascended.” Alongside Scorched Earth, there will be new paid DLC in the form of the Frontier Adventure Pack, offering desert-themed items and buildable trains.
In contrast, the release of The Center, another expansion map which was originally a community-created map officially released in 2016, has been moved up to the end of February. This earlier release is a positive note amidst the delays.
Studio Wildcard’s community update also mentioned their focus on server performance, network movement, and anti-exploit measures. They did not address ongoing performance and crashing issues with “Ark: Survival Ascended” since its PC launch.
However, they did announce a significant dev kit update scheduled for the end of January, which will empower modders to create custom Unreal Engine games within Ascended. This update promises new capabilities like designing custom main menus, hosting and browsing multiplayer sessions in mods, and seamless progression between levels.
The update reflects Wildcard’s ongoing efforts to improve and expand “Ark: Survival Ascended,” despite some challenges and delays in their release schedule.
