Niantic has given Pokemon GO’s beach biome a fresh new look, marking a significant update to the game’s visuals. While this change has quietly slipped into the latest update of Pokemon GO, the official announcement is yet to come from the developers.
Since its inception, Pokemon GO has integrated real-world biomes, shaping not only the appearance of catch screens but also the types of Pokemon spawns in different habitats. These biomes have remained relatively unchanged since the game’s launch in 2016, with only minor tweaks along the way.
However, after nearly eight years, Niantic has decided to revamp the beach biomes in a noticeable way. The change was first noticed by a Reddit user named DrexiteUK, who shared an image featuring the Generation 5 Pokemon Tirtouga against the backdrop of a vibrant beach.

Further reports on social media revealed variations of this interface, showcasing diverse rock formations and seashells. As of now, this beach biome makeover seems to be limited to certain countries, with the UK confirmed to be one of them.
The update itself arrived with version number 0.305.1, as players started discovering the refreshed beach biome visuals.
Surprisingly, the patch notes accompanying this release barely acknowledge the change, leaving players to view it as a delightful surprise. Niantic’s support pages mention only “minor bug fixes and performance improvements” as part of the latest update.
Predicting when this beach biome makeover might reach global availability is challenging. Historically, Niantic has tested new features for varying durations before wide release, ranging from weeks to several months.
While the current limited rollout suggests a potential global launch, nothing is certain until officially confirmed.
Interestingly, the beach biome makeover coincides with the announcement of the upcoming Community Day Classic featuring Bagon on April 7. Subsequent Community Days are scheduled for April 20 and May 19, adding more excitement to the Pokemon GO calendar.
