Barone addressed this concern, explaining that PC releases typically serve as a “beta test” for identifying major bugs, such as those that could potentially destroy saved game data. Bugs like these are harder to fix quickly on consoles due to longer patching processes. Barone emphasized that the long delay in the console release of the 1.6 update wasn’t intentional and that he understands the frustration caused by the delay.
The 1.6 update was initially released on PC about six months ago, but Barone has been closely monitoring the situation, concerned about ensuring a smooth experience for console players.
He acknowledged that game development can be unpredictable, and it’s better to take the necessary time to avoid critical issues. Barone’s top priority is to avoid any major disruptions to players’ progress, particularly given the effort many players put into farming in Stardew Valley.
