Co-op survival action RPG Enshrouded has achieved a significant milestone by attracting over a million players since its early access release last week. Developer Keen Games expressed gratitude and astonishment at the positive reception the game received within just four days.
In a statement shared with Eurogamer, the development team conveyed their heartfelt thanks to the player community and emphasized that this is only the beginning for Enshrouded. They look forward to further developing the game with the support of players, aiming to enhance its overall quality.
Eurogamer contributor Emma Kent, who had hands-on experience with the game, acknowledged the ambitious scope of Enshrouded, describing it as a “decent world to explore” and praising its technical prowess. However, she also expressed a sense of disappointment, feeling that the developer played it safe with this release.
In her Enshrouded preview for Eurogamer, Kent elaborated on her mixed feelings after spending 27 hours with the current version of the game. Despite the flashing quest markers on the map, she noted a feeling of directionlessness within the game world and attributed it to Enshrouded’s overly conservative approach.
Despite these reservations, Kent suggested that Enshrouded might appeal to players seeking a more relaxed experience in the survival genre. Describing the game as “serene,” she noted its potential for those looking for a less intense gaming experience in this genre.
