Former WWE Champion Drew McIntyre has recounted the most harrowing bump he endured in his wrestling career, shedding light on his tumultuous history with Hell in a Cell match.
As he gears up for the Men’s Elimination Chamber match this Saturday night, McIntyre opened up in an interview with The West Sport, confessing his vulnerability to the grueling structure.
Expressing his candid thoughts, McIntyre admitted, “I’ve lost every single cell match, I’ve fallen off the Cell.”
Reflecting on a particularly perilous moment, he recalled plummeting a staggering 10 feet from the Cell structure, exacerbated by his towering height of 6’7″ in wrestling boots. The impact was intensified as he crashed through a table, leaving him reeling from the ordeal.
“I bit through my tongue right through the middle. I looked like a snake or something, and yeah, I got this crazy whiplash,” McIntyre recounted, acknowledging the toll the incident took on his body. [H/T: Wrestling Inc]
Despite the physical toll, McIntyre’s resilience remains steadfast as he presses forward in his wrestling journey. His determination was evident in his recent qualifier for the Men’s Elimination Chamber match, a feat praised by wrestling veteran Dutch Mantell.
Reflecting on McIntyre’s performance against AJ Styles on a recent episode of WWE SmackDown, Mantell commended the finish, which saw McIntyre seize victory with a well-timed Claymore Kick amidst the chaos.
The strategic utilization of LA Knight’s interference added layers to the bout, elevating its narrative complexity.
“Actually, (it was a) pretty good finish. I think that everybody benefitted from it. I liked it because it wasn’t just a straight-up screwjob, and he beat him. LA Knight kind of figured into it, but that was one of the things, and he beat him with his big Claymore,” Mantell remarked, highlighting the match’s nuanced conclusion.
Looking ahead, McIntyre is slated to clash with Cody Rhodes on the upcoming episode of WWE RAW, setting the stage for a high-stakes showdown.
As anticipation mounts for the Elimination Chamber 2024 event, McIntyre aims to harness momentum from his impending bout and surmount any challenges that come his way.
