WWE’s Dominik Mysterio, known for his role in Judgment Day, seems to have missed out on the wrestling history lesson regarding the iconic tag team, The Rockers.
Back in the day, The Rockers, made up of Shawn Michaels and Marty Jannetty, rocked the wrestling scene from 1985 to 1992.
Their breakup became the stuff of legends when Michaels famously turned on Jannetty during Brutus Beefcake’s ‘barbershop’ segment with a devastating Sweet Chin Music.
Recently, Mysterio found himself in a funny exchange on Instagram thanks to his teammate JD McDonagh’s comparison of their hair with The Rockers. Not familiar with them, Mysterio humorously asked,
“Who the f**k are the rockers?”
In a recent WWE SmackDown episode, Dominik Mysterio made a surprise return, reigniting his feud with his own father, Rey Mysterio.
Despite Legado Del Fantasma and the Latino World Order being barred from ringside, Mysterio managed to assist Santos Escobar of LDF in defeating his Hall of Fame father.
Dutch Mantel, sharing his thoughts on Smack Talk, praised Mysterio’s heel performance, labeling him as the kind of heel you love to hate. According to Mantel, Mysterio’s actions make him the perfect antagonist, a character you’d love to see get his comeuppance.
Before WrestleMania XL, Dominik lacked a clear direction, but with his renewed feud with Rey Mysterio, bigger opportunities seem on the horizon for the father-son rivalry.
Their clash at WrestleMania 39 ended with Rey’s victory over Dominik.
There’s speculation about a potential multi-man tag team match involving Legado Del Fantasma and the Latino World Order at WrestleMania.
It remains to be seen which path WWE will choose for these storylines and characters as they head towards The Grandest Stage of Them All. Time will unfold the next chapter in their saga.
