During today’s Siege Invitational 2024 in Brazil, Rainbow Six Siege’s creative director, Alexander Karpazis, made a noteworthy declaration: there are no plans for a sequel to the beloved tactical shooter.
Expressing concerns over the pitfalls witnessed in other live service games that opted for sequels, Karpazis emphasized the team’s preference to nurture and enhance the existing Rainbow Six Siege experience rather than venturing into sequel territory. He highlighted instances where sequels necessitated rebuilding from scratch, resulting in frustration, high costs, and, ultimately, negligible benefits.
Karpazis stressed the significance of understanding and evolving the current game infrastructure rather than opting for an off-the-shelf solution that may not meet the demands of a competitive title like Siege.
He credited Siege’s success to the continuous improvement of its engine, which he proudly described as one of the best in the live service shooter realm. With a dedicated team consistently enhancing the engine’s capabilities, Karpazis expressed confidence in Siege’s longevity and its ability to meet player expectations well into the future.
In a move to address toxicity within the community, Ubisoft previously implemented reputation penalties for abusive voice chat in Rainbow Six Siege. This effort aimed to curb disruptive behavior by muting repeat offenders, thereby fostering a more positive and enjoyable gaming environment.
During the Siege Invitational, Ubisoft also unveiled a glimpse of Year 9 Season 1, Operation Deadly Omen, featuring a formidable new operator named Deimos. This update promises fresh content and experiences for Siege enthusiasts, further solidifying the game’s commitment to continuous improvement and player satisfaction.
