Crop Circle Games, a part of Jeff Strain and Annie Delisi Strain’s Prytania Media portfolio, is currently facing reports of layoffs, as noted by Game Developer. According to the outlet, LinkedIn posts from three developers at the studio confirm that they have been let go.
Further investigation revealed profiles of five additional Crop Circle developers who also announced being laid off or seeking new roles. Additionally, five other Crop Circle full-time employees were observed with an “#OpenToWork” banner on their profile pictures, indicating their readiness to explore new opportunities.
Some affected employees expressed surprise at the layoffs, while others mentioned that the project they were working on has been put on hold.
Crop Circle Games, which emerged in the spring of 2021 and was officially introduced to the public in October 2022, aimed to create innovative narrative sandbox games for a global player community. However, the studio has yet to announce its inaugural project.
Efforts to obtain details about the extent of the layoffs from Prytania Media have not yielded immediate responses.
