Last week on SmackDown, Universal Champion Cody Rhodes found himself in a concerning situation during a match with Carmelo Hayes. The American Nightmare and Hayes clashed in a non-title bout, but things took a scary turn when they mistimed a springboard cutter, resulting in an awkward landing for both wrestlers.
Fans immediately noticed Rhodes favoring his shoulder during the match, sparking worries about his well-being.
However, according to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, Rhodes isn’t officially listed among the injured Superstars internally.
Meltzer suggested that Rhodes may have been selling the spot rather than suffering a legitimate injury:
“I was told it is not listed as an injury, a real injury, so whatever it was. It might be just something. It might be something minor, it might be nothing at all, it’s probably nothing at all significant.”
Despite the scare, Rhodes is gearing up for his first title defense against AJ Styles at the upcoming Backlash Premium Live Event in France. Fans are eagerly anticipating a showdown between these two wrestling icons, and they can catch a glimpse of it on the go-home episode of SmackDown before the big event.
