As gamers delve into the new Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth demo, a portion of players are voicing concerns about what they perceive as below-par visuals in certain aspects.
It’s important to note that demo versions may not fully represent the final release of the game. In the case of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, there are still 20 days until its launch, providing Square Enix ample time to refine it. Additionally, post-launch patches are expected to further enhance visuals and performance. Thus, judgments solely based on the demo may be premature.
Nevertheless, many individuals on social media express disappointment with the demo’s visual presentation. Complaints range from the absence of interactive foliage and muddy textures to technical glitches and overall image quality.
It has some pretty surprising and serious issues. A lot of UE4 baggage but also some bizarre design choices in regards to how assets are jammed together. Image quality is not good in perf mode but at least it runs well, I suppose.

Some have highlighted surprising and significant issues, including Unreal Engine 4 (UE4) limitations and peculiar design choices regarding asset integration. While the Performance mode may not offer satisfactory image quality, it does ensure smooth performance. Such compromises in visuals for stable frame rates are unexpected in a game developed exclusively for PS5.
The widespread criticism of the Rebirth demo’s graphics has sparked lively discussions, such as a notable thread on Reddit. Some users draw parallels to similar visual inconsistencies observed in the 2020 release, Final Fantasy 7 Remake.
Although not personally confirmed, the persistence of graphic flaws from a PS4 game into a PS5 exclusive would be disappointing. An inquiry has been made to Square Enix for comment, and any response will be included in updates to this article.
In the meantime, the true assessment of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth’s visual performance will only unfold upon its launch on February 29th.
