CM Punk’s WWE comeback is just around the corner, and with WrestleMania XL on the horizon, there’s speculation he might have a role in the event. Punk himself has hinted at his presence at the show.
During his hiatus to recover from a tricep injury, Punk didn’t forget to celebrate a special occasion. He took to Instagram to send heartfelt birthday wishes to his wife, April Jeanette Mendez, known to wrestling fans as AJ Lee, who turned 37 on March 19, 2024.
“Happy Birthday to my best friend. The love of my life. Smartest most delicious big brained lady with an a** that don’t quit. My wife! @theajmendez,”
Punk wrote in his Instagram post.
AJ Lee retired from in-ring competition in 2015, following her WrestleMania match where she teamed up with Paige to defeat The Bella Twins. In her memoir, she cited personal health reasons and her desire to pursue other goals as factors in her decision to retire.
Additionally, AJ Lee mentioned feeling conflicted amid WWE and CM Punk’s controversial departure in 2014, whom she married on June 13, 2014.
Despite Punk’s WWE return in November 2023, AJ Lee has remained retired from in-ring competition. Speculation about her return intensified after social media posts showed her training with Punk. However, she clarified her status on Instagram, affirming her retirement.

wrote AJ Lee on her Instagram story.
AJ Lee’s final match for WWE took place on RAW the night after WrestleMania 31. Teaming up with Paige and Naomi, she defeated Natalya and The Bella Twins. Her retirement was officially announced by the company the following night.
