Christopher Nolan has recently shared his perspective on the Fast & Furious franchise, offering a refreshing take on the popular series. While some may consider Fast & Furious their “guilty pleasure,” Nolan made it clear during his appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert that he harbors no guilt about his admiration for the franchise, as reported by Variety.
In Nolan’s eyes, Fast & Furious stands as a “tremendous action franchise,” one that he unabashedly enjoys. He expressed his fondness for the films, stating that he watches them “all the time” and professing his love for them.
For newcomers venturing into the series, Nolan suggested initiating their journey with Tokyo Drift. He pointed out that each installment possesses its own “specific arc and mythology,” making it worthwhile to commence with the 2006 film and appreciate it for what it is: an entity unto itself.
Nolan’s affinity for the Fast & Furious series isn’t entirely novel, as he had previously admitted to having a “very soft spot” for it.
The most recent installment in the Fast & Furious saga, Fast X, hit screens in 2023, with a sequel currently in development and potentially slated for a 2025 release.
Meanwhile, in Nolan’s realm, his latest cinematic venture, Oppenheimer, has garnered an impressive 13 Academy Award nominations this year.
Among these nominations are nods for Best Picture and Best Director for Nolan himself. While he has yet to secure an Oscar win, Nolan has previously received nominations for his works, such as Memento, Inception, and Dunkirk.
