When an actor departs from a show, it’s common for them to receive a token of appreciation, like flowers or a prop. However, the cast of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power experiences more unique send-offs, as actor Charles Edwards, who played Celebrimbor, reveals.
Instead of a typical gift, Edwards received a somewhat morbid but fitting memento tied to his character’s storyline in season 2. This gift came after a significant scene in the season finale, which left a lasting impression on viewers.
In an interview with GamesRadar+, Edwards shared that while he had his eye on a prop from the Eregion workshop, specifically a small anvil used as a paperweight, he never ended up taking it. Although he had intended to claim it, other priorities took over.
Still, the production team gave him something quite different: a small model depicting his character impaled on a tree, with vines protruding from his chest—a striking reference to a key scene from the show.
The model is a recreation of the moment from Galadriel’s vision in season 2, where Celebrimbor is seen uttering Black Speech before being impaled on a tree. This scene mirrors his eventual death at the hands of Sauron in Tolkien’s lore. Edwards expressed contentment with the unique gift, though he did mention he would have liked to take the tree prop itself, even though that seemed a bit too ambitious.
As The Rings of Power season 2 streams, fans are already looking forward to season 3. In the meantime, Edwards also spoke about how his death scene in the show was initially more elaborate but ended up being shortened in the final cut. Fans can speculate about what was left out, but for now, they can enjoy Edwards’ behind-the-scenes insights and the unforgettable on-screen moment he left behind.
