In a recent interview with Chris Van Vliet on INSIGHT, Braun Strowman, the 6 ft 8 inch WWE Superstar, opened up about his favorite match of all time – the grueling Swamp Fight against the late Bray Wyatt at Extreme Rules 2020. Despite the brutal nature of the contest, which saw Strowman end up in the hospital due to dehydration, he holds the match in high regard because of the immense effort and sacrifice both men put into it.
The cinematic brawl, set in an eerie swamp atmosphere, marked a turning point in their rivalry, with Wyatt emerging victorious. Strowman credits Wyatt as his “teacher, mentor, and master,” and believes that the tools and assets Wyatt taught him allowed him to perform at an exceptional level during the match.
However, the physical toll of the match was immense. Strowman revealed that he almost passed out from dehydration and had to be hospitalized after the event. He described the aftermath of the match, saying, “I got home and I collapsed in my house with full body cramps, I had to be pulled out of my house by the EMS and have double IVs hooked up. It took four liters of fluid to get my body to stop cramping.”
Despite the pain and sacrifice, Strowman finds purpose in bringing joy to wrestling fans. He acknowledged criticism of the match but emphasized the immense effort both men put in. The former Universal Champion also spoke about his close connection with Bray Wyatt, who passed away in August 2023.
Strowman mentioned that even though Wyatt is no longer with us, he can still feel his presence because of their deeper connection. “I see him all the time. It’s crazy… I don’t know how spiritual anyone is or this and that, but I had a very deep connection with him. I mean, I see him, and there’s things that remind me of him, and constantly, every day there’s something, I can feel him; he’s still around,” he said.
The Monster Among Men recently made his return to Monday Night RAW on April 29, 2024, following a long hiatus. He quickly took out Finn Balor and turned his attention to Logan Paul, seemingly setting up a rivalry for the United States Championship.
As Strowman continues his journey in the WWE, it’s clear that his connection with Bray
