In a recent exclusive interview with Sportskeeda Wrestling’s Bill Apter, WWE veteran Billy Gunn shared valuable insights into his experience working with his sons, Austin and Colten Gunn, in All Elite Wrestling (AEW). The veteran wrestler also revealed the driving force behind his ability to maintain a high level of performance, even at an advanced age.
Billy Gunn, who has been part of AEW since 2019, introduced his sons to the promotion, and they have quickly risen through the ranks, capturing the AEW World Tag Team Titles and recently unifying them with the ROH six-men Tag Titles. However, their journey was not without its challenges, particularly when they shockingly turned on their father to join Jay White and Juice Robinson in the Bullet Club Gold.
Speaking about working with his sons, Billy Gunn expressed his pride in watching them grow as wrestlers. “It’s been an incredible experience, not just as a father but as a wrestler, to see them develop their skills and confidence in the ring,” he said. “As a father, it’s been an emotional rollercoaster, but I couldn’t be prouder of the men they’ve become.”
The WWE veteran also opened up about the secret to his enduring longevity in the wrestling industry. “To be honest, it’s all about dedication and hard work,” he revealed. “I’ve always made sure to take care of my body, and that’s allowed me to maintain a high level of performance even at my age.”
Billy Gunn’s sons, Austin and Colten, have become one of the top tag teams in AEW, with Colten recently sharing a surprising revelation about his father’s initial reaction to his decision to pursue a career in professional wrestling. In an interview on Dynamite Download, Colten revealed that Billy Gunn was initially upset when he started training with Rikishi’s wrestling school in LA without informing him first.
Despite the initial hiccup, the Gunn family has come a long way, with Austin and Colten currently part of the Bang Bang Gang with Jay White and holding the Unified Trios Championships in AEW. As they continue to dominate the wrestling scene, fans are left wondering if the duo will eventually split to pursue singles careers.
In the meantime, Billy Gunn’s dedication to his craft and his ability to adapt to the ever-changing terrain of professional wrestling serve as a testament to his enduring legacy in the sport.
