Reflecting on this experience in her autobiography “Becky Lynch: The Man – Not Your Average Girl,” Lynch candidly disclosed her discomfort with the arrangement.
“We had no idea how to interact with each other on-screen. I was used to being a badass, and so was he. Yet, in this mushy, muddled TV relationship, we were just plain awkward. Or ‘cringe,’ as was often the word used to describe it online. Blending the two worlds didn’t work for me, as I was two completely different people in each of them,”
she expressed.
Lynch’s struggle stemmed from her portrayal as “The Man” on WWE TV, which clashed with her off-screen persona. Rollins faced similar challenges, being perceived as “The Man’s man” rather than his established character when paired with Lynch.
Although the WWE Universe initially embraced their real-life romance, evident from the heightened ratings during their joint storyline, their collaboration was short-lived. Following their victory over Baron Corbin and Lacey Evans, both stars reverted to their respective divisions, operating independently.
Rollins’ heel persona precluded his involvement in Lynch’s pregnancy announcement, further distancing the couple on-screen. Since Lynch’s return to WWE in 2021, their paths haven’t intersected, signaling a preference for individual endeavors over joint ventures.
While fans acknowledge Lynch and Rollins’ marital status and parenthood, their on-screen chemistry appears more potent when they operate as singles competitors rather than as a couple.
