Actor Alan Ritchson, widely known for his role in “Reacher,” has garnered significant attention as a top pick to portray Batman in the DC Universe, and Ritchson himself is enthusiastic about the prospect.
Expressing his gratitude for the fan interest in seeing him as Batman, Ritchson shared with the Post Cred Podcast, “The fact that people are interested in me playing Batman is a real honor and privilege.”
Reflecting on his childhood fascination with the character, he reminisced, “It’s one of the first characters I fell in love with as a child: I still remember the big, long pistol coming out of Joker’s pants as he goes to shoot down the Batplane.”
Ritchson’s familiarity with DC characters extends beyond Batman. His acting journey began in 2005 when he portrayed Arthur Curry, also known as Aquaman, in The CW’s “Smallville,” a series chronicling the early life of Clark Kent. Over a decade later, he ventured back into the superhero realm as Hank Hall, or Hawk, in the HBO series “Titans,” a role he inhabited from 2018 to 2021.
Reflecting on these iconic roles from his past, Ritchson remarked, “Those iconic moments really resonated with me as a child. For there to even be a conversation or a rumor mill surrounding this role, for me… all I can do is laugh. I just think it’s wild that’s where we are. I would love to. I would absolutely love to [play him].”
In 2021, Ritchson stepped into the shoes of Jack Reacher, the titular character in the third live-action adaptation of Lee Child’s crime novels. The series has enjoyed immense success on Prime Video and was promptly renewed for a third season. Notably, Ritchson reunited with his former “Smallville” co-star Kristen Kreuk in season 1 of “Reacher.”
Currently, both seasons 1 and 2 of “Reacher” are available for streaming on Prime Video, with season 3 commencing filming in December 2023. For those eager for more captivating TV content, there’s a plethora of new shows awaiting exploration in 2024 and beyond.
