After a five-year stint in Early Access and a grand total of eight years in development, the much-loved factory-building game Satisfactory is poised to reach its 1.0 milestone this year.
Community manager Snutt Treptow shared the news in a recent developer video, emphasizing that there won’t be any more updates in Early Access. “This is the year where we finally finish Satisfactory,” declares Treptow, without revealing a specific date but confirming that 2024 is the targeted year for the 1.0 release.
While specific details about the 1.0 update remain scarce, it appears to be a substantial release. Treptow notes, “The main thing it will contain is new, yet-to-be-seen content, fixes to some of the long-lasting issues we’ve had in the game, and a way to complete the game, along with a narrative.”
The development approach for Satisfactory had previously involved various updates, but the team has now consolidated its efforts solely toward the 1.0 version. This shift means minimal patches leading up to the launch. However, enthusiasts will have the opportunity to experience the new content early through closed beta, with sign-ups available on the official site. The developers caution that slots for the beta will be limited.
The announcement unfolded as part of a new “roadmap” video showcasing the trademark humor of developer Coffee Stain Studios. The video included a playful fakeout, teasing unceasing updates, endless content, and a comparison to Fortnite before delivering the actual news. After a prolonged period in Early Access, this amusing twist sets the stage for the final stretch leading to the eagerly awaited 1.0 launch.
