In the aftermath of WWE’s CM Punk delivering a critical assessment of his time with AEW, Adam Copeland appeared to respond to those sentiments with a passionate promo on the April 3 episode of “AEW Dynamite.”
Although Copeland didn’t explicitly mention Punk by name, many interpreted his fervent speech as a direct reaction to the two-time AEW World Champion.
Speaking on “Vancolour,” Copeland addressed the speculation surrounding his promo and its connection to Punk, noting that he had only seen snippets of the interview circulating online.
At that moment, he felt compelled to highlight the positives within AEW.
“From the brief clips I saw, I recognized that our locker room needed a positive message,” he remarked.
“It’s a young locker room, and in my view, given the current era, we strive to support one another. I’ve been in locker rooms where it was every man for himself, filled with egos.
That was never my approach. I’ve always believed in the Bret Hart philosophy of lending a hand. You can mentor and uplift young talents without resorting to negativity. I can’t think of a better way to put it.”
Copeland continued,
“I prefer to focus on the positives. There’s an abundance of negativity in the world today, but positivity is equally prevalent.
Why not seek out the good?… Our young locker room needed to hear that positivity, which is why I delivered the message last week.
I have no interest in dwelling on the negative; I have more important priorities, like tucking my kids into bed and catching the Maple Leafs game.”
