The newly crowned AEW World Champion, Swerve Strickland, appears poised for an illustrious reign with the title, garnering widespread attention throughout the industry.
During a recent appearance on the “Battleground Podcast,” one-half of WWE’s World Tag Team Champions, R-Truth, extended his congratulations to the emerging AEW top titleholder.
The podcast hosts shared a clip of Strickland praising Truth during his own appearance, prompting the veteran wrestler to reciprocate the gesture.
“Let me say this: I want to congratulate Swerve, definitely got to congratulate him, man, on his achievement — his accomplishment — I meant to call you [to Swerve], I’m sorry I haven’t called yet! I’mma text you!” Truth expressed.
Continuing, he lauded Strickland for his consistent excellence both inside and outside the ring, affirming that his current success is well-deserved.
“But like, he’s been killing it for a while, man. He’s so talented, man. So humble. So well deserving of what he’s doing out there, man, and you’ve just seen the beginning of him.”
The mutual respect between the two wrestlers is evident, with Truth acknowledging how Strickland has consistently spoken highly of him.
“Strickland has always talked good about me, man.”
Strickland acknowledged Truth’s compliments on social media, expressing appreciation for the shoutout and eagerly anticipating the call from the WWE star. “I’ll be waiting, legend!,” Strickland posted.
