Former WWE writer Vince Russo lauded a recent SmackDown storyline featuring Solo Sikoa and Tama Tonga, which involved a car crash.
During last Friday’s episode, Solo Sikoa, accompanied by Tama Tonga, asserted his new role as the Tribal Chief by seeking out Kevin Owens. Owens was later ambushed backstage and presented before Sikoa.
SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis displayed the aftermath of Tonga’s car crash involving Owens, cautioning Paul Heyman against similar incidents.
Russo commended the angle, praising WWE’s efforts to portray Sikoa as a top villain. He particularly appreciated the character adjustments, such as Sikoa’s attire and the car crash setup.
Russo suggested that Sikoa should have targeted Cody Rhodes immediately, expressing his thoughts on Sportskeeda Wrestling’s Legion of RAW:
“They don’t care what they churn out, they don’t care. But I am going to go back to SmackDown, where I really liked what they did with Solo Sikoa… Now bro, if it were me, though, it would have made a little more sense to me if Solo Sikoa immediately went after Cody Rhodes.”
Russo elaborated on the need for a strong heel leading up to WrestleMania, suggesting Rhodes could have been Sikoa’s first target.
Despite this, he commended Sikoa’s portrayal as the Tribal Chief, stating:
“They really could have made Sikoa if he immediately went after Cody Rhodes, but I do like what they are doing with him. The overhaul, the dress, his being in charge—I think they did a really good job.”
Solo Sikoa’s narrative has evolved since orchestrating Jimmy Uso’s exit from The Bloodline, gaining Tama Tonga as an ally and instilling fear in Paul Heyman. With the WWE Draft 2024 looming, fans eagerly anticipate Sikoa’s next move as the Tribal Chief.
