Veteran wrestling personality Jim Cornette recently shared his thoughts on Seth Rollins’ attempt at giving The Rock a new nickname during a segment on WWE RAW last week.
Rollins, set to team up with Cody Rhodes against The Great One and Roman Reigns at WrestleMania Night One, coined the term “Diarrhea Dwayne” after being referred to as a “walking clown emoji” by The Rock.
In the latest episode of the Jim Cornette Drive-Thru, Cornette critiqued Rollins’ promo as lacking in substance and failing to resonate with the audience.
According to Cornette, Rollins misjudged the crowd’s response, continuing with less-than-amusing retorts that extended beyond the audience’s interest. The veteran felt that The Visionary should have exercised better judgment, concluding his promo before the crowd lost interest.
“This was silliness where there didn’t need to be silliness. He took the top angle and he was flippant and silly, mocking The Rock and his promos. And I don’t think it was getting over with the room, and I don’t think it was getting over with the TV audience. The nickname wasn’t even the worst part of it, because the worst part of it was after that. He kept going on and on and that’s when they quieted down,” commented Cornette. [5:23-6:03]
Cornette also expressed his view that the promo, laden with lengthy retorts from Rollins, took the main-event feud too lightly, potentially harming the overall product.
“The people chant ‘diarrhea diarrhea’ and that gives him the opportunity to tell Rock that he sounds like wet baby poop, that’s a quote. But then he gets the flippant and the silly, mocking The Rock in the promos and he just went again down the wrong path. Not only were the people not interested but he’s taken the big main event that he thinks is bigger than all of us too lightly.” [6:38-7:07]

Looking ahead to WrestleMania 40, Rollins will finally find himself in a proper main event, teaming up with Cody Rhodes against The Rock and Roman Reigns on Night One.
While Rollins participated in the main event at WrestleMania 31, his upcoming match at The Show of Shows is anticipated to be a significant moment in his career.
